You need to understand how to be an effective leader at meetings if you are to apply to any management role. Consider the following strategies:
1. Come With a Plan
As the leader, you need to go to every meeting with a plan. You’re the one that should know what you’re talking about, who you’re going to ask, what needs to be discussed. Clear plans show attendees you know what you’re doing.
2. Have an Important Reason
There’s a joke in social media about meetings: “This could have been an email.” Manager often call meetings to talk about things that could easily be communicated via email. If you’re going to call a meeting, make sure there is a good reason.
3. Limit Who’s Invited
The only people that should be invited to meetings are those that are going to be involved in the discussion. Their time is valuable therefore calling then into unnecessary meetings only interrupts their work and makes it harder to complete it on time. 4. Involve Everyone
