Portfolio and Personal Landing Pages

Creating a powerful digital presence that will get noticed by recruiters, all starts with a great digital resume. If this is your first attempt at a digital presence, then I strongly suggest you start with a digital resume template or infographic first, then move on and develop your portfolio of work and finally link it all together with a great personal landing page.

Assuming your digital resume is ready and your LinkedIn profile is optimised perfectly for the job search process then you are ready to think about portfolios and personal landing pages.

Portfolios

An online portfolio allows you to showcase your work experiences in a visual way beyond just a list of bullet points. It can be very powerful and can easily set you apart from the hundreds of other standard candidates. As with the infographic style resume, the digital portfolio adds colour and life to your words and therefore the recruiter is much more likely to spend longer looking at your work history as opposed to someone else who has sent in a standard bullet point list of experiences. If you are keen to create a portfolio think about the following options:

Everyone who is serious about job search should have a well-developed LinkedIn profile. Assuming your profile is up to date, you can use the new LinkedIn portfolio feature to link your basic information to a portfolio of your best work. You can add images, videos etc… all the things you need to bring your work history to life.

Accredible is a very useful site, especially for recent graduates. It allows you to prove to recruiters that you can do the things you say you can do in you resume. Every time you list an academic achievement or skill in your online resume you can then link that to images, videos, certificates etc… that prove it is true.

Personal Landing Pages

A personal landing page links together your resume, portfolio of works and all your social assets. It is a central hub for all your relevant information and makes it easy for the recruiter to find exactly what they need.

About.me is a free service that allows you to create and customise your own landing page. You can add all your vital contact information, images and link all your social assets in easily such as LinkedIn, your Portfolio, Infographic resume etc…There are quite a few templates to chose from and most features are free.

Flavors.me is a lot like about.me in that it does all the same stuff but it offers more options to customize your page. If you don’t mind the extra time and effort then this may be the program for you. Most elements are free and it’s not hard to use, things just take a bit longer because there is more stuff you can customise yourself.

Populr.me is a really easy to use program that allows you to drag and drop all your key information into one landing page. You can chose from one of their templates, add images and video, look at already made designs to inspire you etc… It’s very easy to use and you can link all your social assets to it with ease.
